How to buy the best Cold Brew & Iced Coffee for Drip

Even saturation and the right ratio

Use a medium grind and a 1:16 ratio, and favor a brewer that keeps water in the 195-205F band and showers the bed evenly. Uneven saturation is the main reason drip coffee tastes weak or flat; a flat-bottom basket and a brief built-in bloom both help.

Cold extraction chemistry and concentrates

Cold and iced formats lean on low-temperature or flash-chilled extraction to keep acidity and bitterness in check while preserving body. Concentrates are designed to be diluted, so judge them by how balanced they taste once water or milk and ice are added, not straight from the bottle.

Drip coffee — FAQ

What grind is best for drip coffee?

A medium grind, similar to coarse sand. It balances flow rate and extraction for the contact time a drip brewer provides.

Why does my drip coffee taste weak?

Often an under-dose or uneven saturation. Use a 1:16 ratio, grind a touch finer, and choose a machine that brews near 200F and wets the bed evenly.

Should I dilute cold brew concentrate?

Yes. Most concentrates are brewed strong (around a 1:8 ratio) and meant to be cut with water or milk over ice to taste, commonly 1:1.
